Shin-Etsu KY-1901

Shin-Etsu KY-1901 is an industrial-grade fluorine-based antifouling surface coating agent launched by Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. of Japan. It is composed of special fluorine compounds containing reactive silane groups and organic fluorine groups, and is mainly used to form an ultra-thin, wear-resistant, and smooth nanoscale hydrophobic and oleophobic protective film on glass, metal, or plastic surfaces.

Key Features

  • Excellent hydrophobic and oleophobic properties: Extremely low surface tension; water droplet contact angle reaches 115°~116°, and oleic acid contact angle is approximately 76°.
  • Stain and fingerprint resistant and easy to wipe clean: Dirt, fingerprints, and ink do not easily adhere and are extremely easy to wipe clean.
  • Excellent feel and abrasion resistance: Extremely low coefficient of dynamic friction, extremely smooth feel, surface hardness reaches 8H~9H, and excellent resistance to steel wool abrasion.
  • Ultra-thin and transparent: The coating is extremely thin, completely unaffected by the optical transparency (such as light transmittance) and texture of the substrate itself.
